Once in a while an event series is born that shakes things up, it makes you think differently, it leaves you inspired. That event is DisruptHR. This year, I joined 13 fellow HR professionals to shake things up in Phoenix. It was fun to develop a presentation that limited me to 20 slides, 15 seconds each. (And the presentation auto-advances whether the speaker is ready or not!) All the speakers rose to the challenge and we all had a great time.
My topic focused on the major disruptions throughout the history of our species, right up to the present day. We often hear talk about the “disruptive” technologies that are changing our world. But what many people fail to note is that these disruptions, unlike many disruptive events in our past, are of our own making. In other words, the human race isn’t being changed by these events – we are changing ourselves.
