The world of work is subject to substantial change. Advances in artificial intelligence, robotics, neuroscience, genetics (to name a few) are transforming the way we live and learn. How can we maintain high levels of performance in a time of unrelenting change? The solution is often called “lifelong learning,” but implementing it isn’t quite as simple as it may seem.
When Learning is No Longer About “Checking the Boxes”
True learning is about changing behaviors, rather than just ticking the ‘training’ box. But how do you really make it happen? These are the questions Stella Collins, Ria Van Dinteren, Katelijn Nijsmans and I have heard a lot over the years. Together we “brain ladies” have more than 100 years of practical experience in the field of learning & development. Working for both private and public organizations, big and small companies, we have been seeking the answers to these questions to ensure that people learn and perform at the highest level. We’ve been finding most of our answers in the beautiful world of neuroscience. Luckily we not only found neuroscience; we also found each other.
From Learning to Performance – Global Lessons from the Brain Ladies
Together, as the Brain Ladies, we keep track of the latest advances in “the neurosciences,” including cognitive science, educational neuroscience, learning theory, cognitive psychology, artificial intelligence and more, to get a clear picture of what lifelong learning can look like when it’s working well. In our individual consulting practices, we share those insights with people like you. So, we decided to work together and pack our most valuable lessons into a single ebook. (Also known as our “whitepaper.”)
Now our work is available to you – free of charge.
This little book will give you some answers to your questions about the use of neuroscience in the field of learning and development. Our search started, possibly like yours, with questions we all face in our work around the world. Questions about the brain and change, the brain and learning. We encountered many myths along the way and fought through the maze of hyperbole and blatant commercialization to drill down into the core science. And we found several simple, meaningful things you can do today.
This book will give you some answers from a global perspective and is the start of a collaboration we plan to grow as we move forward. In this first effort, we focus on learning and change on the job. Every item starts with a theoretical framework, followed by some practical tips anyone can use.
I hope you enjoy reading our ebook! Please share with your friends and let me know what you think!
