Dr. Soraya L. Vallés graduated in Biological Science at the University of Valencia and remained there to undertake a PhD under the supervision of Consuelo Guerri at Research Institution (Instituto de Investigaciones Citológicas), which she completed in 1996. Her dissertation was “Changes of astroglia intermediate filaments gene expression during rat brain development: Effect of alcohol exposure.”
Today, she studies inflammation and oxidative stress mechanisms in Alzheimer’s disease. She is also studying the Central Nervous System and how it controls cancer by hormones. She is working on a grant to conduct a study about stem cells and brain.
